Netflix to Produce Season Two of The Hunting Wives

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Netflix is set to produce the second season of The Hunting Wives, starring Malin Akerman and Brittany Snow. Starting from its second season, this drama series will become a Netflix Original and will stream exclusively in all markets except four countries. Like the first season, the second one will consist of eight episodes, with the lead cast returning.
The Hunting Wives, written by Rebecca Cutter, was based on May Cobb’s bestselling novel, but its second season will be an original work continuing the story of season one. The character Sophie, played by Brittany Snow, and Margo, played by Malin Akerman, separate at the beginning of the second season, but it won’t be long before hidden secrets and new enemies bring them back together.
The Hunting Wives was initially produced for Starz, but after the network split from Lionsgate in May, the rights reverted to Lionsgate and were subsequently sold to Netflix. Season one premiered on July 21 without the Netflix brand logo. For the show’s renewal, Netflix needed to acquire global streaming rights, prompting Lionsgate to amend international deals.
Despite limited promotion, The Hunting Wives spent six consecutive weeks in Netflix’s Top 10 most-watched series and attracted over 20 million U.S. viewers.
The show’s success on Netflix boosted sales of Cobb’s book. Originally published in 2021, the novel was reprinted twice in the week following the show’s release.
